Steal Bread, Get Killed; Steal Billions, Get Appointed — Isaac Fayose

Isaac Fayose has stirred reactions on social media after criticizing what he described as the double standards in Nigeria’s justice system.

According to Fayose, petty offenders accused of stealing basic items such as bread, food, or seasoning cubes often face mob justice and are sometimes killed on the spot. In contrast, he alleged that individuals accused of embezzling billions of naira are often rewarded with political appointments instead of being held accountable.

“Nigeria is the only country in the world where, if you steal small things like bread, Maggi, or food, you’re killed on the spot through jungle justice. But if you steal big, like billions of naira, you end up being rewarded with a political appointment, where you can steal even more.”
