A Catholic priest has urged Nigerians to take an active role in the country’s electoral process by obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of future elections.
The cleric questioned how Nigerians expected the country to improve when many citizens were unwilling to obtain their voter cards and participate in elections.
According to him, citizens cannot continue to complain about the state of the nation while neglecting one of the important ways they can contribute to choosing their leaders.
“You people want a better Nigeria but you don’t have voters cards. How do you expect our country to get better? Without a voter’s card, things can never get better; we will keep complaining,” he said.
The priest also expressed concern about electoral malpractice, arguing that elections are rigged because many eligible voters fail to turn out in large numbers to cast their votes.
He therefore encouraged Nigerians to obtain their PVCs and participate actively in elections rather than limit their concerns about the country’s leadership to complaints.
