Veteran Nollywood actor Patrick Doyle has opened up about the deep sorrow he is experiencing following the loss of his newborn daughter.
The actor and his wife, Olufunmilayo, had recently celebrated the arrival of their first child together. However, the moment of joy turned into heartbreak when the baby died only a few hours after birth.
In a post shared on his Facebook page late Monday, Doyle reflected on the pain of losing a child, describing it as a grief that does not simply fade with time.

According to him, such loss does not remain a past event but becomes a lingering presence in one’s life.
He noted that language often falls short of capturing the depth of the pain, describing it as a heavy, uninvited burden that remains constant.

“There are moments in life when words feel too small for the weights we carry. Grief, it is not an event; it is a companion. Familiar, unwelcome yet ever present. I stand before you not as one who has read about sorrow but as one who has walked in it,” he said.

Despite the situation, the actor who recounted the pain he has endured over several years of losing different loved ones, declared that he is standing strong.
He attributed the strength to something greater than himself.
“I have known the pain of losing a beloved wife, the heartbreak of burying a son and now the fresh wound of laying to rest a child born only a few days ago. And yet in the midst of all this, I can say with conviction, I am still standing. Not because I am strong in myself but because I am held by a strength greater than my own,” he said.
