“There Is No Evidence, Everything Is Not Based On Evidence” – Peter Obi Repeats 2023 Election Claim

Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has maintained that he won the 2023 presidential election despite admitting that he has no evidence to prove the claim.

Obi made the statement during an interview with BBC News while discussing his previous claim that the 2023 election was rigged.

When asked whether he had evidence to support his claim that he won the election, Obi acknowledged that he did not.

“Frankly I don’t like going back to the past but I still think what I think,” Obi said.

When the interviewer asked if he had evidence to prove his position, he replied, “Well there is no evidence, everything is not based on evidence.”

The interviewer then challenged Obi over his decision to continue discussing the future while rejecting the past result.

Obi, however, stood by his position, simply stating, “I won the election.”

Obi and the Labour Party challenged President Bola Tinubu’s victory at the Presidential Election Petition Court, but the tribunal dismissed their petition on September 6, 2023. The Supreme Court subsequently dismissed their appeal on October 26, 2023, upholding Tinubu’s victory.

The 2023 presidential election was won by Tinubu according to the official result, and the courts ultimately upheld that outcome. Obi has nevertheless continued to maintain that he was the actual winner of the poll.

His latest remarks have sparked renewed reactions online, particularly over his admission that he has no evidence while continuing to insist that he won the election.
