President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 individuals to leadership positions across 10 federal government agencies and commissions, with former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, emerging as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
The appointments, announced on Monday, also include Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission.
The announcement was contained in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Monday, July 20.
According to the statement, Fayose will head the board of the Rural Electrification Agency alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, who were appointed as members and non-executive directors. The statement added that the agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and its three previously appointed executive directors would complete the board.

Tinubu also approved eight additional appointments into the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission.
Former member of the House of Representatives from Lagos State, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was named Secretary of the commission, while Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun and Yakubu Umar Barde were appointed commissioners representing Benue, Oyo and Kaduna states respectively.
Other members appointed into the commission are Dr Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo) and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi).
The President also redeployed Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, who was earlier appointed Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), to serve as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.
The statement further announced the appointment of Dr Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission, Dr Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET), and Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
In another appointment, Engineer Julius Oloro, a former local government council chairman, was named Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), replacing Dr A.R. Kamal, who died in January.
President Tinubu also constituted the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, with Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu appointed as Chairman.
Other members of the board are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
Similarly, Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was appointed Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF) in April.
To fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mathias Byuan, former Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), President Tinubu appointed Gisaor Vincent Iorja as the new Executive Director.
According to the Presidency, Iorja is “an economist, legal scholar, and academic currently serving as the secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC).”
The Presidency said “all the appointments take immediate effect.”
