President Bola Tinubu has extended his working vacation abroad by a few days and is expected to return to Nigeria by the weekend.
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
According to Onanuga, Tinubu has remained in contact with government officials in Nigeria and continued to direct the affairs of the country while away.
The President departed Nigeria on August 30 to begin his three-week annual leave, with London, United Kingdom, as his first destination. The State House had described the trip as a working vacation.
After spending about a week in London, Tinubu travelled to Paris, France, where he held official engagements, including a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron and discussions with French businessman Vincent Bolloré.
The State House confirmed that Tinubu met Bolloré in Paris as part of his working vacation, with discussions focusing on expanded investment and the localisation of operations in Nigeria’s creative and digital economy.
Onanuga said Vice-President Kashim Shettima had been delegated to represent Tinubu at some official functions during the President’s absence from the country.
The presidency had initially announced that Tinubu would return to Nigeria after his vacation. The latest extension means his return is now expected by the weekend.
