Policy analyst Professor Udenta Udenta has assessed the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the current government has successfully mastered the leadership style of the immediate past President, the late Muhammadu Buhari, news.ng reports.
Udenta, who appeared on Channels Television on Sunday evening, said the Tinubu administration is still on course, as it is both strategic and symbolic, citing the level of achievement recorded in the northern part of the country.
According to him, the administration’s position on the troubled northern region of the country is a perfect reflection of how the former President would have handled it.
He said, “The president has simply absorbed the Buhari government. He has to. At this crucial stage, he has to do it. He has an audience in Northern Nigeria and says I did not abandon the CPC in the configuration of forces; I did not abandon my lord and master. He was my boss. He was our leader for eight years.”
The policy analyst noted that although the Buhari administration was not perfect, the current administration has addressed some of the challenges encountered.
“But we know how that government functioned for eight years. When we talk about the poverty capital of the world, the president has added 10 million more people to Buhari’s own poverty,” he noted.
On insecurity, the professor noted that there have not been notable achievements.
“His security was much more rooted in the northeast. He has expanded it to northwest, north central, everywhere,” Udenta stated.
He questioned the rationale behind the high level of spending in the budget.
“If you look at even the thickness of the budget… we are three years in a cycle close to 200 trillion. Cannot be accounted for. We can’t find 34 trillion of this money. And you can see the explanation for the Minister of Finance—it does not make sense,” he added.
Commenting on the 2027 general elections, he said, “You will run election 2027 on your own record. It will not be promised to Nigerians. The record is very shabby, to say the least. That record cannot win an election.
” These two presidencies are co-joined. The failures of the Buhari presidency are the failures of the Bola Tinubu presidency.”
