To Kongi, with reverence and disquiet, By Osmund Agbo

There is something deeply uncomfortable about telling an elder you revere that, on certain matters, you see things differently. It feels almost filial, like telling one’s father, with as much tact as one can muster, that he may have taken a turn he did not intend to take. Yet perhaps true reverence does not demand silence. Sometimes, it demands the courage to speak honestly, especially when those who admire him most may be too afraid to do so.
