Ederson will travel to England later this month to complete his £35m move to Manchester United.
United have agreed a fee with Atalanta for the Brazilian international to become their first summer signing.
Ederson, 26, has agreed a deal worth £75,000-a-week that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2030.
The midfielder is currently on his summer break following the end of the Serie A season.
But he will arrive in Manchester in the coming weeks to finalise the move, before linking up with the United squad in time for pre-season training.
United will travel to Scandinavia for a series of friendlies, and manager Michael Carrick wants Ederson to be an integral part of those games.
Carrick has sanctioned the signing of Ederson due to the player’s versatility and work rate.
And United have been able to push through a deal, due to the fact Ederson has not been included in the Brazil World Cup squad.
Carrick has been desperate to strengthen his midfield, following the departure of Casemiro.
Manuel Ugarte is also set to leave United after falling out of favour, provided someone meets the £25m asking price.
United have abandoned their pursuit of Elliot Anderson, who is expected to join neighbours Manchester City.
But the likes of Adam Wharton, Carlos Baleba, Mateus Fernandes and Real Madrid duo Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde remain possible targets.
Tchouameni has played down his recent bust-up with Valverde, and insists he is still committed to the Spanish giants.
But returning Real boss Jose Mourinho has still to decide which players he wants to get rid off at the Bernabeu, leaving United in limbo for the time being.
