Ohale, born in 1991, returns to Italy after previously featuring for AS Roma in 2020, bringing more than 15 years of international experience to Como following her retirement from the Super Falcons
Super Falcons legend Osinachi Ohale has joined Italian side Como 1907 Women following her departure from Mexican club Pachuca, while Nigeria forward Gift Monday has completed a move from Washington Spirit to NWSL newcomers Boston Legacy FC.
Her career began in Nigeria in 2008 and has taken her through spells in the United States, Sweden, Spain and Mexico, establishing her as one of Nigeria’s most experienced defenders.
Como technical director Nils Nielsen welcomed the defender, highlighting her positioning, one-on-one defending and aerial strength as key qualities she will bring to the squad.
“Osinachi is a very experienced and good defender. Representing Nigeria for more than 15 years, many as captain, her international experience is extremely valuable for us,” Nielsen said.
Ohale expressed excitement about returning to Italy and beginning a new chapter with the BiancoBlu, pledging to give her best for the team.
“I’m happy to return to Italy and embark on this new experience here in Como; I have a very positive feeling about it. I’m ready to do whatever the coach asks of me to help the team,” she said.
Her move comes after a distinguished international career with Nigeria, during which she featured at four FIFA Women’s World Cups and seven Africa Women’s Cup of Nations tournaments, winning five continental titles with the Super Falcons.
While her retirement closes a significant chapter in Nigerian women’s football, Ohale’s move to Como offers her the opportunity to continue competing at club level and bring her defensive experience to a new environment.
Meanwhile, Super Falcons forward Gift Monday is set for a fresh challenge after Washington Spirit traded her to NWSL expansion club Boston Legacy FC ahead of the new team’s inaugural campaign.
Monday joined Washington Spirit in March 2025 from Spanish side UD Tenerife and made a strong impact during her two seasons in the United States.
The Nigerian international recorded 12 goals and three assists in 48 appearances across all competitions for the Spirit, establishing herself as an important attacking option.
One of her most memorable performances came in September 2025, when she scored a hat-trick against Houston Dash in 35 minutes and 52 seconds, setting the record for the fastest hat-trick from kickoff in NWSL history.
She also played a decisive role in Washington Spirit’s 2025 playoff campaign, scoring twice as the club advanced to the NWSL Championship final.
Monday now begins a new chapter with Boston Legacy FC, which is preparing for their first season in the NWSL. Her arrival offers the expansion side an attacking option with proven league experience, while Washington Spirit will move forward without a forward whose goals made a notable contribution during her time at the club.
