Troops of the Nigerian military have intercepted suspected terrorists and recovered an AK-47 rifle during a patrol in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The development was disclosed in a post shared on X on Thursday by security analyst Zagazola Makama, who cited security sources.
According to the post, the troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA were on a fighting patrol around Dumpawa village at about 3:30 pm on April 21 when they sighted armed men believed to be terrorists moving towards the community.

Following the encounter, the soldiers combed the scene and recovered one AK-47 rifle abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.
Security sources said the operation was part of efforts to prevent attacks and protect residents in the area.
They added that troops have continued patrols and clearance operations in Zurmi to restrict the movement of terrorists and ensure the safety of communities.
