Trump threatens 'whole civilisation will die' if no Iran deal

US President Donald Trump has issued yet another threat to Iran if a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz isn’t reached by 20:00 Washington time, threatening that a “whole civilisation will die tonight”.

“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,” he said on his Truth Social page.

I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Total and Complete Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS?

We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran! We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World,” he continued.

Two bridges in the cities of Qom and Kashan have already been hit, killing two people and injuring three.

A key highway connecting the northern city of Tabriz and the capital Tehran has also been closed after a hit around 90 kilometres away was reported.

Iran earlier showed no sign of backing down on Tuesday as a US deadline loomed for it to reopen the Strait.

The Iranian army dismissed what they called Trump’s “arrogant rhetoric and baseless threats”, saying they would not hinder operations against US and Israeli forces more than five weeks into the war.

Fighting raged across the region overnight, with Israel’s military saying Tuesday it carried out a new “wave” of air strikes on what it called Iranian “terror regime infrastructure” in Tehran and other areas. Iranian media said explosions were heard in parts of Tehran and nearby Karaj early Tuesday.
