Uba Sani begins reconstruction of 14-year abandoned Binawa bridge in Kaduna

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has inaugurated the reconstruction of the abandoned Binawa Bridge in Kauru Local Government Area of the state.

The bridge, which had been abandoned for more than 14 years, connects Mariri, Geshere, Binawa and other communities in the area.

The governor was represented at the groundbreaking ceremony in Binawa by the Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Sunday Marshall Katung.

Mr Katung described the project as a major infrastructure intervention that would improve connectivity and ease transportation difficulties faced by residents.

He said the reconstruction marked the beginning of further development projects in the area, expressing optimism that the long-awaited Kibangari Bridge would also receive government attention.

The senator urged traditional rulers, youths and security agencies to strengthen collaboration in addressing insecurity and sustaining peace in the area.

Earlier, the Managing Director of the Kaduna State Roads Agency (KADRA), Abdullahi Baba-Ahmad, said the reconstruction would facilitate the movement of residents, agricultural produce and essential services.

He said the project would improve access to markets, schools and healthcare facilities, support businesses and strengthen economic and social ties among communities.

Mr Baba-Ahmad assured residents that the agency would ensure compliance with engineering standards, with emphasis on quality, durability and timely completion.

The managing director also inspected the ongoing construction of the 17-kilometre Kayarda-Kaku-Dan Alhaji Road, initiated by the Uba Sani administration, which he said had reached 95 per cent completion.
