The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has commenced passport production and dispatch for applicants enrolled under its Special Passport Intervention Exercise in the United Kingdom, after processing 2,296 applicants in the first six operational days.
The exercise, which commenced on September 7, 2026, is being conducted at the London and Manchester centres to provide passport services to Nigerians in the UK.
According to figures released by the Service on Monday, 1,709 applicants were enrolled at the Manchester Centre, while 587 were processed at the London Centre.
The NIS Public Relations Officer, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration Akinsola Akinlabi, on Monday, said the daily enrolment figures across both centres stood at 245 on September 7,401 on September 8,396 on September 9,429 on September 10, 406 on September 11 and 419 on September 12.
NIS said the exercise had witnessed sustained turnout and steady processing of applicants with confirmed appointments.
As part of efforts to monitor service delivery, the Comptroller-General of NIS, KN Nandap, undertook working visits to the intervention centres in Manchester and London.
The Service said the visit enabled the Comptroller-General to assess the exercise firsthand, interface with members of the Nigerian community and ensure efficient and responsive delivery of passport services.
NIS assured applicants with confirmed intervention appointments that the exercise was continuing at both centres.
It said passport production and dispatch for those already enrolled had commenced and were progressing steadily.
The Service appreciated members of the Nigerian community in the UK for their patience and cooperation, urging applicants to continue working with officials at the centres to ensure smooth delivery of the intervention.
