Prince Ifeanyi Ezechukwu, Jnr., popularly known as PIE, has declared that Umuchu town in Aguata Local Government Area will be a major support base for Peter Obi in the next general elections.
The declaration was made during an online consultative forum organized by the Emergent Leaders Forum, a group of emerging young politicians focused on grassroots mobilization and civic engagement.
Addressing participants at the virtual meeting, Prince Ezechukwu said Umuchu is home to some of the most committed stakeholders of the Obidient movement in Aguata and across Anambra South Senatorial District. He noted that the town’s political history and its strong followership of issue-based politics make it strategically important for the 2027 elections.
“Umuchu will surely be counted as a core support base for Peter Obi,” PIE told the forum. “We have men and women who believe in capacity, competence, and character. That is what Peter Obi represents, and that is what our people are aligning with.”
The youth leader said the conversation around leadership in Nigeria has shifted from money politics to performance, track record, and integrity. According to him, young people in Umuchu and other communities in Aguata are looking for a government that will prioritize education, health, small businesses, and security.
Speaking with optimism about the future, he added, “When Obi rules Nigeria, we will feel what it means for our brother to be president. Obi’s government will change our fortunes, so don’t lose hope.”
He urged members of the Emergent Leaders Forum to go back to their communities and begin voter education, sensitization, and peaceful mobilization ahead of the elections. He stressed that youth participation is critical if Nigeria is to achieve the kind of leadership transformation being advocated.
Prince Ezechukwu also called on political stakeholders in Umuchu to put aside personal interests and work together for a common goal. He said the town has the numbers, the structure, and the will to deliver significant votes if properly coordinated.
“We cannot afford to be on the sidelines when history is being made. Umuchu must be at the front. We must deliver big, not just in numbers but in the quality of engagement,” he stated.
Members of the Emergent Leaders Forum, who joined the session from different parts of Anambra and beyond, described the meeting as timely. They said it offered an opportunity to align strategies and strengthen grassroots structures ahead of 2027.
The forum also discussed the need for issue-based campaigns, peaceful elections, and greater involvement of women and young people in politics. Participants agreed to set up community teams that will focus on voter registration, PVC collection, and monitoring of electoral processes.
Political observers noted that Aguata LGA has remained a key battleground in Anambra politics due to its population and voting strength. With pronouncements like this from youth leaders, the area is expected to witness increased political activities in the coming months.
Wrapping up his remarks, Prince Ifeanyi Ezechukwu, Jnr. reaffirmed his commitment to mobilizing Umuchu youths and stakeholders to support Peter Obi’s vision for a new Nigeria. He said the town is ready to play its part and deliver results that will be felt beyond Aguata.
