Israel received 6,500 tons of military equipment from the United States over a 24-hour period, the Israeli Defence Ministry announced on Thursday.
The shipments, which included thousands of ground and air munitions, light armoured utility vehicles, and military trucks, arrived via two cargo ships and several planes.
The equipment was dispersed to various military bases across Israel after its arrival, according to Israeli media.
Amir Baram, Director-General of the Ministry of Defence, said Israel’s procurement of arms and military equipment “will continue and intensify in the coming weeks”.
Israel has received more than 115,600 tons of military equipment since the start of the US-Israel war on Iran on 28 February, according to the ministry.
Separately, navigation data from FlightRadar24 and ADS-B Exchange in the 48 hours running up to Thursday morning showed at least 30 US military cargo planes departing from Germany towards the Middle East.
According to the data, 29 of the flights were Boeing C-1A Globemaster III aircraft, while one was a Lockheed Martin C-130J-30 Hercules aircraft. Seven of the flights were shown as heading to the “Middle East” without specifying a country, while seven flights were headed to Israel, and four to Jordan.
While the data does not show the nature of the cargo carried by the flights, the volume has led to speculation of a military buildup, amid tensions continued tensions between Israel, the US and Iran.
The latest arms shipments come amid fears that the US and Israel could reignite their war on Iran, amid a fragile ceasefire that has been marked by a stalemate over the Strait of Hormuz and disagreements over Iran’s nuclear programme.
Israel’s defence minister on Thursday said his country may soon have to “act again” against Iran, to ensure that it “does not once again become a threat to Israel”.
“US President Donald Trump, in coordination with (Israeli) Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is leading the efforts to achieve the campaign’s objectives, to ensure that Iran does not once again become a threat to Israel, the United States and the free world in the future,” Israel Katz said during a military ceremony, according to a statement from his office.
“We support this effort and are providing the necessary support, but it is possible that we may soon have to act again to ensure these objectives are met,” he added.
