Villagers intercept suspected explosive-laden vehicle in Jigawa

A vehicle suspected to be conveying explosive materials has been intercepted by residents at Gada area on the outskirts of Kazaure town in Kazaure Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

The incident was disclosed in a post on X by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency and security analyst focused on the Lake Chad region.

Makama said that the incident occurred at about 1:00 a.m. on April 10.

According to the report, sources narrated that the vehicle, a Volkswagen Golf, was loaded with items suspected to be explosive materials when it was intercepted by vigilant members of the community.

The occupants of the vehicle reportedly fled the scene upon being confronted, abandoning both the vehicle and the suspected consignment.

The sources said the vehicle and the recovered items were subsequently evacuated and handed over to security agents for further investigation.

They added that efforts were ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and determine the nature of the recovered materials.
