A Nigerian man has questioned the lack of unity and support among Nigerians living abroad, expressing concern over how some citizens discourage others from seeking opportunities outside the country.
In a statement circulating on social media, the man lamented that Nigerians often make it difficult for fellow citizens to settle or succeed abroad instead of offering the support and encouragement they need.
He also criticised the lack of a strong sense of community among Nigerians in the diaspora, noting that some Nigerians abroad even advise newcomers to stay away from their fellow countrymen.
Expressing his disappointment, he said:
“I wonder why we hinder people from making moves when it comes to coming abroad, I wonder why we don’t have a sense of community. When you’re abroad, Nigerians would be the ones telling you to avoid other Nigerians.”
His remarks have drawn attention to concerns about the relationship between Nigerians in the diaspora and the challenges newcomers sometimes face when seeking guidance, assistance and support from fellow citizens.

@Ola:”As Nigerians everyone just think about themselves, that’s why we never move forward as people”
@Captain:”Nigerians living abroad are very bad people with TERRIBLE characters. I avoid Nigerians where I am like the plague. AVOID NIGERIANS ALSO, they carry their bad behaviors and bring it Abroad.”
@Abdullateef oshodi:”The truth is, we need to change this mentality. Not every Nigerian abroad is your enemy, and not everyone wants to see you fail. We should be building connections, helping one another and creating opportunities instead of becoming obstacles to our own people. Unity is power. 🇳🇬🤝”
