A viral video has captured residents of Onitsha applauding the rehabilitation of Bida Road leading to Main Market, a project facilitated by the Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Senator Tony Nwoye, who is also the candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
The road, which had long been in a deplorable condition, was previously a major challenge for motorists, commercial tricycle operators, motorcyclists, traders, and pedestrians. Residents said the reconstruction has significantly improved access to the busy commercial hub.
Speaking in the video, a resident, Patrick Ikebuonwu, described the project as life-changing, recalling that the road had deteriorated to the point where it was difficult for vehicles and motorcycles to pass through.

“The road was in a terrible condition. Cars and motorcycles could hardly pass through here. Senator Tony Nwoye has done a great job. He has put smiles on the faces of residents. We have never seen such good work before. God bless Tony Nwoye,” he said.
Expressing his appreciation, Ikebuonwu added that he and many others in the area intend to support the senator in the next election.
“We’re going to vote for him again,” he said joyfully.
Addressing residents during the visit, Senator Tony Okechukwu Nwoye thanked them for their support and assured them that, if re-elected, he would embark on more road construction projects and execute additional developmental initiatives across the Anambra North Senatorial District.
The video has continued to circulate on social media, with many residents commending the intervention and describing it as a significant improvement to one of the key access roads to Main Market, Onitsha.
