Arise TV presenter Rufai Oseni has spoken out following reports that content creator Justice Crack was detained by the Nigerian military over a viral post addressing the welfare of soldiers.
The issue began after Justice Crack shared a video raising concerns about the living conditions and treatment of military personnel, which quickly gained attention online.
Responding to the situation, Rufai challenged the allegations brought against the content creator, questioning the justification for the arrest and describing the action as unlawful. He argued that the concerns highlighted in the video were not new, noting that similar complaints have reportedly been voiced by members of the military themselves.
“Nigeria military picked up Justice Crack for releasing a story about the welfare of Nigerian soldiers. The question we should ask is: what exactly did he say that many military personnel themselves are not already complaining about?” he said.
He also challenged claims that the information shared was false and raised concerns about how the arrest was carried out.
“The military is charging him for releasing false information, but are those pictures not taken by military personnel on the frontline? He was picked up against his will. He was pretty much kidnapped until people started speaking up.
I am speaking up today because it can happen to anyone. That is the kind of country we live in,” he added.
The development has since fueled ongoing discussions about freedom of expression in Nigeria, particularly regarding how individuals who address sensitive national matters are treated.
