A man has called out the viral Canada-based Nigerian woman who made her husband publicly swear that he would not cheat on her if he eventually relocated to join her abroad.
The woman, identified as Ezinne Maryjane Nwanorue, recently went viral after sharing a video of her husband making a vow that he would remain faithful to her if he moved to Canada.
The video, along with her posts explaining the reason behind the vow, sparked mixed reactions online.
Man questions public vow
Reacting to the incident, the man argued that the woman’s decision to make her husband record and share the vow publicly amounted to unnecessary humiliation.
In a post shared on Facebook, he compared the situation with cases where spouses relocate abroad and later bring their partners and children to join them.
He wrote:
“Married man moves abroad.
“Has not yet settled down but is already making arrangement for his wife and children to join him.
“Finally gets a small space and a stable job and pours all his money into bringing his wife over.
“Wife finally joins him.
“In some cases, they live happily ever after.
“In some cases, she starts showing him shege and even divorces him.”
He added:
“Meanwhile…
“Wife moves to Canada.
“Has settled down and has no plans for her husband to join her.
“Husband requests to join her and she decides to put him through a public humiliation ritual.
“Make a video and swear that if you come to Canada and cheat on me, you will die.”
Husband’s vow sparks debate
The man said the husband went ahead to make the video and promise to remain faithful, but questioned why the declaration had to be made publicly.
He wrote:
“Man makes the video and makes all the alluring promises.
“Wife goes ahead to post the video everywhere and everyday.
“At this point, any man with a working penis that has any shred of self esteem should scream ‘To hell with this.’
“What sort of public humiliation is that?”
