“Wizkid Has Always Honoured Fela”- Basketmouth Reacts To Singer’s Clash With Seun Kuti

Popular Nigerian comedian and entertainer, Basketmouth, has come to the defence of Afrobeats superstar Wizkid following the controversy surrounding comments made about Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti.

Basketmouth stated that Wizkid never intended to disrespect Fela, stressing that the singer’s actions over the years show his admiration for the late music icon.

According to him, Wizkid’s decision to have a tattoo of Fela on his hand is a clear indication of the respect he has for the legend and his legacy.

“Wizkid never intended to disrespect Fela. He has his tattoo on his hand. Even Seun, who is Fela’s son, doesn’t have a bigger Fela tattoo on him,” Basketmouth said.

The comedian further suggested that the controversial post was not aimed at attacking Fela’s legacy but was rather directed at provoking Fela’s son, Seun Kuti.

He explained that Wizkid’s relationship with Fela’s music and influence has always been rooted in admiration, adding that the singer’s public expression of love for the Afrobeat pioneer should not be overlooked.
