An Italian-born former Catholic priest, Father Sandro Ferretto, has left the priesthood and married a Kenyan woman he reportedly met while serving as a missionary in Kenya.
Ferretto previously served as a Catholic parish priest in Kasiela and Mochongoi, Baringo County, where he was involved in missionary work within the community.
During his time in Kenya, he met Sharon Jepng’ok, a Tugen woman and daughter of former councillor John Wendot. Their relationship reportedly blossomed into romance, eventually prompting Ferretto to step away from the Catholic ministry.
He has now married Sandra in a colourful traditional ceremony held at Seretion Village in Kasiela, Baringo South, surrounded by family, friends and members of the community.
His decision to leave the priesthood and pursue marriage has attracted attention online, with social media users sharing humorous reactions to his unusual journey from missionary work to married life.
