Worker Dies After Dispute With Tiler In Abuja Hotel

A hotel worker, Joseph Terdoo, has died after an alleged physical confrontation with a tiler hired by the hotel in Utako District of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The incident occurred in Room 301 of the hotel in the early hours of Tuesday, October 20, 2026, after a disagreement between Terdoo and the tiler, identified as Samuel Net, reportedly escalated into violence.

According to the FCT Police Command, in a statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, on Sunday, officers were alerted to suspicious noise and activities on the hotel’s third floor at about 5am and immediately proceeded to the scene.

The police said they found Net with marks of violence on his body, while Terdoo was discovered lying unconscious on the floor with multiple marks of violence.

Terdoo was rushed to Wuse District Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed him dead on arrival.

Preliminary police investigations indicated that the disagreement between the two men degenerated into a physical confrontation, during which Net allegedly pushed Terdoo.

The police said Terdoo fell and hit his head against a wooden object before collapsing.

The FCT Police Command said it had commenced a discreet investigation into the incident to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.

The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, urged residents to avoid violence and taking the law into their own hands when resolving disagreements.

He advised residents to embrace peaceful and diplomatic means of settling disputes to prevent avoidable loss of life.

The command also urged members of the public to report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or contact its emergency lines on 08032003913 and 08061581938.
