Content creator Julie has weighed in on the growing concerns over the increasing presence of Chinese-owned businesses in Nigeria, pointing to customer service as one factor that may be affecting local businesses.
According to Julie, some Nigerian business owners who complain about Chinese businesses taking over the market should also examine how they treat their customers.
She argued that while some customers may spend millions of naira with Nigerian business owners, they sometimes struggle to get the services they have already paid for.
Julie also compared the customer experience offered by some Chinese companies with that of some Nigerian businesses, claiming that Chinese companies often provide better customer service.
“Many Of You Nigerian Business Owners Complaining That Chinese Businesses Are Taking Over Have Very Poor Customer Service. Meanwhile, Many Of These Chinese Companies Offer Excellent Customer Service. A Customer Can Pay a Nigerian Business Owner Millions Of Naira And Still Have To Beg For The Service To Be Rendered. Sometimes, Some Business Owners Even Go As Far As Threatening Their Customers.” she said
Her comments have sparked discussion about the importance of professionalism, customer relations and accountability in the Nigerian business environment, particularly as competition from foreign-owned businesses continues to generate debate.
