“You Don’t Need An Expensive Wedding”- Ruth Kadiri Speaks On The Pressure Big Weddings Put On Couples

Nollywood actress Ruth Kadiri has advised couples to consider having low-budget weddings, warning that the pressure to organise an expensive ceremony can negatively affect their mental health and marriage.

The actress noted that many people fail to recognise the emotional and financial burdens that come with planning a big wedding, adding that some relationships change after the wedding ceremony.

“Big weddings put pressure on couples and the marriage itself, and I don’t think people realise that. People can date for years, but after the wedding, some people change,” she said.

According to Ruth Kadiri, couples should prioritise their peace of mind and the future of their marriage rather than feel compelled to organise an elaborate wedding to impress others.

She explained that putting themselves under unnecessary pressure to meet the expectations associated with expensive weddings could take a toll on their mental health.

The actress’s remarks have drawn attention to the importance of financial planning and emotional well-being when preparing for marriage.

Her advice suggests that couples should focus on building a healthy relationship and starting their married life on a solid foundation instead of spending beyond their means to stage a lavish ceremony.
