Food critic Opeyemi Famakin has responded sharply to a comment made by content creator Carter Efe, escalating a social media exchange that began during a recent dinner with businessman E-Money and singer Kcee.
The incident reportedly happened after Carter Efe, who recently gained attention for his boxing victory over Portable, was seen dining with E-Money and Kcee. During the meal, E-Money jokingly criticised Famakin’s eating style, saying the critic should be mindful of how he holds his fork before judging others. The comment was made in a light-hearted tone as they shared food Carter Efe had prepared.
Carter Efe then added his own remark, suggesting that “that is how poor people do,” a statement that quickly drew backlash online.
Reacting in a video shared on his Instagram page, Opeyemi Famakin hit back at the skit maker, accusing him of disrespect and claiming he had body odour, while insisting he stood by his comments. He also extended a controversial “gift” to Carter Efe in the form of a perfume worth about ₦45,000, saying he would give it to him for free.
Famakin further warned Carter Efe not to involve himself in conversations that do not concern him, adding a joking threat that he could physically confront him if necessary.
During the same video, the food critic praised E-Money, describing him as the wealthiest person at the table, while also commenting on proper dining etiquette. He explained that using only a fork is appropriate for eating rice, while both fork and knife should be reserved for other types of food such as meat.
He also took the opportunity to promote a fragrance product during the recording.
This is not the first time Famakin has publicly criticised members of the dining group. He previously called out singer Kcee after a video of the artist eating on a plane surfaced online, where he also commented on the singer’s cutlery technique.
