Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of late singer Mohbad, has opened up about her strained relationship with her father-in-law during a recent interview.
Speaking in an interview with Channels Television, Wunmi claimed that the issues between her and Mohbad’s father began long before the singer’s death.
According to her, they were once very close until tensions started after the birth of her son, Liam.
“Baba Mohbad wants something I can’t give him, he wants the DNA of my child to be negative,” she said during the interview.
Wunmi alleged that Mohbad’s father was unhappy after the late singer reconciled with his mother, which she said contributed to the family crisis.
She further stated that many people wrongly assume the conflict only began after Mohbad’s death, insisting that the disagreements had existed earlier.
When asked if she wanted peace with her father-in-law, Wunmi explained that she initially tried reaching out to understand what she had done wrong, but later concluded that the disagreement was tied to Mohbad’s properties and royalties.
She added that she feels Mohbad’s father is trying to take advantage of her because she is younger while he is seen as a father figure.
According to her, resolving the conflict may be difficult because the one thing Mohbad’s father allegedly wants is “not something she can give.”
The interview has triggered intense reactions online, with many Nigerians divided over the ongoing DNA controversy.
