“Your humility and kindness were unmatched” – Seyi Edun, Mr Latin, others write tribute to Onipokia of Ipokia Kingdom as he dies at 55

Nollywood stars are grieving over the death of the Onipokia of Ipokia Kingdom in Yewa, Ogun State, Dr Oba Yisa Sola Adeniyi Olaniyan.

According to reports online, he passed away at the age of 55 on June 27th, 2026, following complications arising from a surgical procedure.

The news of the monarch’s passing has thrown the kingdom into mourning, with tributes pouring in from indigenes, friends, and well-wishers.

Onipokia of Ipokia is dead

Joining them, Yoruba Nollywood stars flooded their social media pages with tributes to the King.

Seyi Edun said she is speechless and shocked, and doesn’t want to believe the news. She prayed for his soul to rest in peace and prayed for God to console his family.

TAMPAN president, Mr Latin, praised the Kabiesi for his unmatched humility, kindness and willingness. He attested that he is personally a beneficiary of his generosity and will forever cherish his support.

The veteran said that the monarch’s love for his people, especially the creative industry, will never be forgotten, and prayed that God grant him eternal rest.

Akin Boss noted how some leave footprints on people’s hearts that can’t be erased, and he is one of them. She disclosed that the deceased was more than a brother, as he welcomed her with open arms, made every journey easier, connected her with opportunities, and made a foreign place feel like home.

Kabiyesi, who lived in the United States for 23 years before ascending the throne, was installed as the 46th Onipokia of Ipokia in 2020 and reigned from 2020 to 2026. During his reign, he was known for his commitment to the growth and development of the Ipokia Kingdom and the welfare of his people.
