“Your wife should know everything you own” – Pastor Sarah Omakwu advises married couples

Senior Pastor of Family Worship Centre, Sarah Omakwu, has advised married couples against hiding their wealth from one another, stressing that spouses should be aware of each other’s assets.

Speaking during a recent sermon, the clergyman said many people believe they are being wise by keeping their finances and properties secret from their partners, but warned that such decisions could create problems if one spouse dies unexpectedly.

According to her, husbands and wives should know what each other owns so that the surviving partner will not be left stranded.

In her words, she said.

“Some people keep their wealth a secret and think they are wise. Everything you have should be known by your wife, just as your husband should know what you have, so that if one of you dies, the other will have something to fall back on.”

Pastor Omakwu further explained that keeping bank accounts and other assets hidden from a spouse could result in the money remaining unclaimed after death.

She noted that financial transparency in marriage is not only beneficial while both partners are alive but also protects the family’s future.

“If nobody knows you have money in the bank and you die, the money may remain unclaimed, and the bank will continue to hold it until the rightful beneficiaries come forward to claim it,” she added.

Her remarks have since sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians sharing different opinions on whether married couples should disclose all their assets to one another.
