2027: Makinde Campaign Targets Grassroots Mobilisation In Town Hall Consultations

The Presidential Campaign Organisation of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has commenced zonal town hall meetings as part of its nationwide consultations and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The campaign organisation, at a media briefing in Abuja on Sunday, said the meetings would provide a platform for citizens and stakeholders to engage the party’s presidential candidate, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, and his running mate, Lawal Daura.

The Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communication to the APM presidential candidate, Tony Ehilebo, who briefed journalists on the party’s move, disclosed that the first town hall meeting will hold in Katsina, Katsina State, on Tuesday, September 22, for the North-West zone.

He said the campaign would move to Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Friday, September 25, for the South-South meeting, followed by Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Monday, September 28, for the North-Central zone.

According to him, the South-East zonal meeting is scheduled for Enugu on Wednesday, September 30, while dates for the remaining zones will be announced later.

Ehilebo said the town hall meetings would be “issue-based and citizen-driven,” focusing on critical national issues, particularly those affecting the stability of the country and the wellbeing of Nigerians.

The spokesman added that the campaign’s central message was to “Reset Nigeria” into a country where leaders are accessible, accountable and service-driven, with public resources transparently deployed for the benefit of citizens.

“Our campaign belongs to the people. Our message is to Reset Nigeria to a nation that truly works for all,” Ehilebo said.

He added that Makinde’s candidacy had continued to attract support across ethnic, religious and social divides, describing the campaign as a grassroots movement.

Ehilebo said the campaign has witnessed “an unprecedented upswing momentum” as supporters mobilise across communities for the APM and its candidates.

He cited recent off-cycle and bye-elections as evidence of growing support for the party, particularly the APM’s victory in the Bauchi State House of Assembly bye-election held at the weekend.

The APM urged Nigerians to participate in the scheduled town hall meetings, saying the campaign would use the engagements to listen to citizens and deepen its consultations ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
