The chairman of Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Yahaya Saidu, has died in a Kaduna hospital less than three months after assuming office.
The Adamawa State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) announced his death in a statement on Saturday, describing it as a major loss to the council and the state.
The state ALGON chairman, Titus Obadiah, said Saidu was a committed leader who devoted himself to serving his constituents.
“It is with a heavy heart and total submission to the will of Almighty God that I received the sad news of the passing of the executive chairman of Fufore Local Government Area, Dr. Yahaya Saidu,” the statement said.
Obadiah extended his condolences to Saidu’s family, friends, associates and the people of Fufore, while praying for strength and comfort for those affected by his death.
Saidu was sworn in as Fufore council chairman on July 15, 2026, on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
His death comes about 18 months after his predecessor, Shuaibu Babas, died in office on April 23, 2025.
