A Nigerian lady has explained why she is supporting former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, in his presidential ambition, recalling some of the policies she believes made a positive impact during his time in office.
The lady, while expressing her intention to vote for Obi, shared an experience from his administration, particularly highlighting his efforts toward improving education and discouraging child labour in Anambra State.
According to her, during Obi’s tenure as governor, children found hawking on the streets during school hours were taken to the police station as part of measures to ensure they remained in school. She added that parents who came to retrieve their children were questioned over why their wards were not attending school, especially since education was made free under the administration.
“When Peter Obi was governor of Anambra State, if your child was caught hawking during school hours, the child would be taken to the police station. When you came to secure the child’s release, you would be arrested and asked to explain why the child was not in school because education was free,” she said.
The woman noted that such policies were among the reasons she believes Obi deserves her support, stating that his record as a governor influenced her decision to vote for him.
