Education leaders, policymakers, development practitioners, corporate organisations, technology innovators, and advocates are calling for bold, collaborative action to transform Nigeria’s education system. At the EduFuture Conference 2026, stakeholders came together to commit to ensuring no child is left behind.
Held on July 9, 2026, under the theme “Scaling Equity: Building Education Systems That Leave No Child Behind,” the conference brought together 62 participants representing 36 organisations at EridanSpace, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, in partnership with Eridancity. The event brought together thought leaders, cross-sector partners, and practitioners to discuss educational equity, inclusive learning, child protection, teacher development, learning poverty, technology, and sustainable partnerships.
In her welcome address, Founder and Executive Director of Dolly Children Foundation and Convener of EduFuture Conference, Adedolapo Osuntuyi, described EduFuture as more than a conference but a growing movement dedicated to translating conversations into measurable action. She noted that the conference serves as “a platform for honest conversations, shared learning and collective commitment,” stressing that building education systems that leave no child behind requires more than intention; it demands collaboration, innovation and sustained action from every stakeholder.
Delivering the keynote address, Executive Director of the Nigeria Network of NGOs (NNNGO), Mr. Oyebisi Babatunde Oluseyi, challenged participants to rethink educational equity, explaining that “educational equity means giving every child what they need to succeed not simply treating every child the same.” He further warned that “the children we leave unsupported today will meet the children we are trying so hard to support tomorrow,” urging governments, institutions, communities and individuals to embrace educational equity as a shared national responsibility.
Across two high-level panel discussions, leading education experts examined practical strategies for addressing some of Nigeria’s most pressing education challenges. Speaking on inclusive education, Founder of Let Cerebral Palsy Kids Learn and Inclusion Advocate, Tobiloba Ajayi, encouraged educators to adopt a child-first approach, noting that “the first thing you should see is the child, not the disability,” while emphasizing that “inclusive education is not charity it is justice.”
Addressing child protection, Executive Coordinator of the Bimbo Odukoya Foundation and Lagos State Coordinator of the Child Protection Network, Aderonke Oyelakin Mary, stressed that safe learning environments remain fundamental to quality education. She maintained that “safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility,” adding that “having a policy is not enough; implementation is what truly matters.”
Speaking on strengthening teacher capacity, Coordinator, Leading and Learning Programme at AL for Education, African Leadership Academy, Temitope Ifegbesan, underscored the importance of continuous professional support, observing that “strong education systems are built by strong teachers.” She called on school leaders to invest in coaching, mentorship, classroom observation, peer-to-peer learning, and continuous professional development to improve teaching quality and learner outcomes.
Speaking during the sustainability and innovation panel, Founder and Executive Director of Seed Care & Support Foundation, Olanrewaju Oniyitan, advocated for stronger collaboration between organisations and schools, urging stakeholders to “design programmes with schools, not for schools,” while noting that sustainable impact is achieved through local capacity building, educator empowerment and the ethical application of technology to support learning rather than replace human relationships.
Also contributing to the conversation on sustainable partnerships, Programs Director at Teach for Nigeria, Bosede Ogidan, emphasized the importance of building long-term trust with communities and developing education interventions that empower schools to sustain impact beyond donor support.
One of the conference’s defining moments was the EduFuture Commitment Wall, where participants publicly pledged practical actions towards expanding educational access, strengthening child protection, promoting responsible Artificial Intelligence literacy and creating safer learning environments. The initiative reflected the conference’s commitment to moving beyond dialogue by fostering accountability and inspiring measurable action.
The conference also featured an inspiring EduTalk delivered by Human Capital and Education Policy Practitioner, Godwin Henry, who challenged participants to recognise the power of individual action. Encouraging everyone to contribute in their own unique way, he remarked, “Don’t underestimate what you can do. You don’t need to run like me. There is something you can do,” reinforcing the message that meaningful societal change often begins with a single act of courage and commitment.
The event was expertly moderated by Founder and Executive Director of Brace-Up the Young, Obasanjo Fajemirokun, while an emotionally compelling spoken word performance by Breakthrough Adeleke reinforced the conference’s central message of equity, inclusion and hope for every child.
Participants described the conference as both insightful and transformative. Reflecting on the experience, Taiwo Sholadoye, a Software Developer, observed that “the future of education is everyone’s responsibility,” while Sophie Nneji of Living Vines Mental Health Foundation said the conference strengthened her personal resolve, adding, “I need to protect every child I come across,” reflecting EduFuture’s broader call for collective responsibility in advancing child protection and educational equity.
The conference concluded with strong evidence of its impact. Post-event evaluation recorded an overall participant satisfaction score of 4.5 out of 5, while the quality of speakers received an impressive 4.75 out of 5 rating. In addition, 100 percent of surveyed participants indicated they would recommend EduFuture Conference and attend future editions, underscoring the conference’s growing reputation as a credible platform for advancing education leadership, fostering cross-sector collaboration and driving systemic change across Nigeria’s education sector.
As EduFuture Conference 2026 drew to a close, stakeholders reaffirmed that achieving equitable education in Nigeria requires sustained partnerships, inclusive policies, stronger investment in teachers, responsible innovation and collective accountability. The ideas, commitments and partnerships forged during the conference are expected to strengthen advocacy efforts, influence policy conversations and inspire collaborative initiatives that will contribute to building education systems where every child has the opportunity to learn, thrive and succeed.
