Nollywood actor and politician Yul Edochie has stirred fresh political debate with his strong comments on Peter Obi’s 2027 presidential ambition.
In a viral statement posted on X and Instagram, Edochie declared that Peter Obi cannot become Nigeria’s president at this time. He warned that any political party the former Labour Party candidate joins will “scatter,” describing Obi’s ongoing moves with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as “dead on arrival” and “a total waste of time.”

“It’s not a physical problem. It’s deeper than that. I’m surprised he doesn’t know this already. Or maybe he knows but chooses to ignore it. But the truth remains the truth. Peter Obi cannot be President of Nigeria now,” Edochie stated.

The actor, who contested the 2017 Anambra governorship election and is now a known supporter of President Bola Tinubu, argued the issue goes beyond surface-level politics. His remarks have triggered mixed reactions online, with some praising his boldness and others criticizing him for dismissing Obi’s chances so early.
Obi, who ran for president in 2023 under the Labour Party, but is now with the coalition party Africa Democratic Congress ADC, has been consulting with opposition figures ahead of the next general elections.
