Afrobeats superstar Davido has shared his thoughts on whether he would support his children if they decide to pursue music, revealing that his response is not as straightforward as many might expect.
During a recent interview, the singer was asked if he would encourage any of his children to follow in his footsteps and build careers in the music industry. Davido initially responded with a “no,” but he later reconsidered his answer after speaking about his second daughter, Hailey, who he believes already shows signs of having musical potential.
The singer praised Hailey’s vocal ability, describing her as a talented child with a strong presence. According to him, she has a personality similar to his own and often becomes the centre of attention wherever she goes.
Davido explained that his initial hesitation comes from his personal experience in the entertainment industry. He recalled the challenges, pressure, and sacrifices he faced while building his career, wondering if his children would be prepared to endure the same struggles.
However, the award-winning musician admitted that his own family eventually supported his decision to pursue music, despite the uncertainties that came with it. Because of that experience, he said he would not prevent any of his children from chasing their dreams, especially if they have genuine talent.
“I know what I went through; can they go through it? Eventually, my family allowed me to do music and chase my dream, I will never want to block any of them especially if they are good, why not?” Davido said.
The singer also highlighted his position as the first musician in the Adeleke family, noting that he represents the beginning of a new legacy in his family’s entertainment journey.
