“I was asked to resign immediately” – TikToker Becca recounts losing her banking job over social media content

TikToker GRWM Becca has opened up about losing her banking job, revealing that she was allegedly asked to resign with immediate effect after years of receiving warnings over her social media content.

In a video shared online, she explained that she had been creating content since 2018 while working as a bank teller. According to her, she usually arrived at the office as early as 6:30 a.m. to film and post videos before work because she had no access to her phone during office hours.

She recalled that her troubles began in 2022 after posting a video joking about receiving just a ₦10,000 salary increase, which earned her a query from the bank’s management.

In her words, she said:

“I got a query because of a video about salary increment. They said it was against the social media policy. I apologised, and they later allowed me to resume work.”

Becca said she was later promoted to full-time staff and even received another salary increase. However, as her content became more popular in 2025, she claimed the management began paying closer attention to her social media activities.

She revealed that another query followed after she shared a workday vlog during Easter. Although she deleted the video, apologised before the bank’s Disciplinary Committee, and stopped filming at work, she was still summoned by her manager last Thursday.

“He said, ‘Becca, I have bad news.’ Then he told me, ‘You’ve been asked to resign, effective immediately.’ No prior notice. Nothing,” she added.

Her revelation has since sparked reactions online, with many social media users expressing sympathy for her while others debated whether the bank’s actions were justified based on its social media policy.
