Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has vowed to campaign across Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general election, declaring that nobody can stop him from reaching voters across the country.
Obi made the declaration amid concerns over reports that some governors had discouraged him from visiting their states.
“No group has a monopoly on rascality,” he reportedly said, insisting that he would not be prevented from campaigning nationwide.
During an earlier interview, the former Anambra State governor disclosed that he had attempted to visit about three states but was told by the governors that he should not come. He questioned why any governor should restrict his movement, arguing that Nigerians have a right to freedom of movement and that presidential candidates should be allowed to campaign freely.
Obi has also called on governors across the country to allow all presidential candidates to campaign in their states without unnecessary political interference.
His latest remarks have attracted reactions on X, with supporters expressing confidence in his ability to reach voters nationwide. Some described the coming election as a fierce political contest, while others called on Nigerians to stand up against attempts to restrict opposition campaigns.
The development comes as political parties prepare for the 2027 presidential election scheduled for January 16, 2027.
