Ibadan Summit: You’re wasting your time, can’t defeat Tinubu – APC slams opposition parties

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that opposition political figures such as Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Senate President David Mark are wasting their time.

The party noted that the current political alignments against President Bola Tinubu ahead of 2027 general elections cannot see the light of the day.

APC spoke in a statement released on Sunday by Publicity Secretary of the party in Oyo State, Wasiu Sadare.

DAILY POST recalls that chieftains of opposition political parties on Saturday met in Ibadan at a meeting hosted by Makinde, tagged ‘National Summit of Opposition Political Party Leaders’.

The summit was attended by Abubakar, Mark, former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, ex-Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana, Aisha Yesufu, Professor Pat Utomi and former Youths and Sports minister Solomon Dalung.

Others are former governors Rauf Aregbesola, Aminu Tambuwal, Rabiu Kwankwanso, Abdulfatai Ahmed, Rotimi Amechi and Babangida Aliyu, among others.

The Oyo APC in its reaction, described the meeting as a waste of time, noting that it will not be possible for the opposition political figures to defeat Tinubu in 2027.

“They (opposition figures) are just wasting their time as it is just impossible for them to catch up with a man who is several kilometers ahead of them in a marathon.

“The polls will be hitch-free and credible while he (Makinde) would not find an avenue to escape from the country before May 29, 2027 so that he would be made to answer for the many cases of abuse of office and corruption hanging on his neck,” the statement said.
