Iran once again ripped into Trump’s claims to end the conflict in the Middle East, and that its leadership and military have been completely obliterated, with Tehran on Thursday asserting that the war will continue until the US faces “permanent humiliation”.
The Iranian military rebuked Trump, saying that conflict would persist until the United States faces what it described as “lasting humiliation, regret, and surrender.”
Tehran’s response followed Trump’s address to the nation, in which he claimed that Iran’s Navy and Air Force had been significantly weakened and that its leadership structure had suffered major setbacks.
According to Iranian state broadcaster Press TV, a spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters dismissed US assertions about damage to Iran’s military infrastructure, arguing that American intelligence on Iran’s capabilities remains “incomplete”.
US underestimates Iran’s capabilities
Rejecting Trump’s claims, the spokesperson said Washington lacks an understanding of the Islamic Republic’s “vast strategic capabilities”, and denied that Tehran’s ability to deploy missiles and drones has been significantly curtailed during the conflict.
“Your intelligence on our military power and equipment is incomplete. You know nothing of our vast strategic capabilities. Do not assume you have destroyed our strategic missile production sites, long-range attack and precision drones, modern air defence systems, electronic warfare, or specialised equipment,” the spokesperson said.
Such assumptions will only deepen the quagmire you have entered. The sites you believe you have struck are insignificant; our strategic military production operates from locations unknown to you and beyond your reach. Do not attempt to count our missiles, drones, and strategic systems, you will be wrong and gain nothing,” the spokesperson said, as quoted by Press TV.
The Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, Iran’s highest operational command unit, coordinates joint operations between the national army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The spokesperson also accused the United States of initiating the conflict and vowed sustained retaliation.
“You must answer for the aggression you launched against our honourable and beloved Muslim nation. This war will continue until you face lasting humiliation, regret, and surrender. Expect further crushing and devastating strikes as a continuation of the severe blows already inflicted,” he said, again cited by Press TV.
Trump claims win over Iran
The remarks followed an address by Donald Trump, delivered after the onset of hostilities in late February, in which he praised the US military for delivering what he described as a “decisive” blow to Iran and suggested that the campaign’s core objectives were close to being achieved.
Trump asserted that Iran’s naval and air capabilities had been systematically dismantled and that its broader military infrastructure had been severely weakened.
“Iran’s navy is gone, its air force is in ruins, and its leaders, most of them terrorists, are now dead,” he declared.
