Iran says no final decision taken over US ceasefire deal

Welcome to The New Arab’s live coverage of all the latest developments from accross the region.

US President Donald Trump says a deal with Iran will be signed today, contradicting Tehran, which says it will be in the “coming days” as outstanding issues remain.

The development comes as Israel has continued to pound Lebanon with fresh strikes, issuing further forced evacuation orders to civilians in the south.

Here are some of the key updates:

•    Iran and the US are expected to sign a ceasefire agreement in the coming hours, according to Trump, something Tehran says is unlikely.

•    Key aspects of the agreement remain uncertain including whether it will enforce a ceasefire in Lebanon.

•    There is outrage in Israel over the emerging deal, with officials and commentators describing the war as a major strategic defeat.

•    Israeli warplanes are continuing to bomb southern Lebanon after Hezbollah fired drones into northern Israel.
