Israel launched airstrikes on the Iranian capital Tehran late on Friday, saying it had targeted air defence sites of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, as well as storage units for air defence missiles, following the downing of two US aircraft.
US forces, as well as the Iranian army, are still searching for one missing pilot of an F-15 that was downed over Iran, after special forces rescued one of the pilots.
Attacks were also conducted against ballistic missile sites, which have continued to be fired against the US, Gulf and Israel since the start of the war. The Mahshahr Petrochemical Zone coming under attack on Saturday, according to Fars News Agency.
The continued bombardment comes amid reports that backchannel talks between Iran and the US, mediated by Pakistan, have reached a dead end, with Iranian officials unwilling to meet their US counterparts in Islamabad.
According to reports, Iranian officials believe that US demands, laid out in a 15-point plan, are unacceptable. Iran had laid it its own list of demands shortly after the US.
