Israeli forces killed a paramedic and wounded a woman in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday morning, medical sources reported.
The paramedic, named by Wafa news agency as Ibrahim Saqr, was killed in an air strike near the Al-Tuwam junction, northwest of Gaza City, while the woman was injured by Israeli gunfire in the town of Beit Lahia, northern Gaza.
The latest death brings the number of Gazans killed during the ceasefire to 823, with 2,310 others wounded, according to medical sources. Israeli forces have killed at least 72,594 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023, with thousands of dead and missing people still unaccounted for.
A day earlier, Israeli strikes killed five people, including a nine-year-old boy.
Gaza’s civil defence agency said four people were killed and six others injured when an Israeli drone fired two missiles at a car in Gaza City’s western Al-Rimal neighbourhood.
A Gazan security source identified two of the victims as Hamas commander Iyad al-Shanbari and his son Salah. He did not mention the other two people, and there was no immediate reaction from Hamas.
West Bank: Israelis kill Palestinian, seize body
Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian man during a raid on the town of Silwad, east of Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank early on Wednesday.
The army seized the body of the man, whom they accused of attempting a stabbing attack, and arrested his father.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health identified the man as Abdul Halim Rouhi Abdul Halim Hammad, 37.
Silwad mayor Raed Hamed told The New Arab: “The details about what happened are not entirely clear, but the occupation forces were inside the home of the martyr Muhammad Rouhi Hamed at dawn on Wednesday, while Israeli media reported that the young man carried out a stabbing attack against two soldiers and wounded them before he was shot inside the house.”
Hamed indicated that the army had stormed the home to search it and interrogate its occupants, killing Abdul Halim and arresting his father before withdrawing from the town. He noted that Abdul Halim’s brother, Muhammad, had been killed about five years earlier near the settlement of Ofra.
After the raid, the army closed several entrances to Ramallah, before reopening them.
Raids took place across the occupied West Bank on Wednesday morning, including in the town of Qabatiya, south of Jenin, and the villages of al-Mufaqara, al-Tuwani, and Khirbet al-Daba in Masafer Yatta.
