The daughter of a groundnut seller has explained her reaction after Nigerian TikToker Peller gifted her family ₦1 million during a recent livestream.
The incident reportedly happened while Peller was interacting with an elderly groundnut seller during a TikTok livestream. After seeing the woman’s goods, including groundnuts and sugar, he asked how much they cost.
Peller subsequently sent ₦1 million to the woman and her daughter. However, he became displeased with the daughter’s reaction after she confirmed that the money had been transferred.
The TikToker initially requested a refund, reportedly because he felt the young woman did not show enough appreciation for the unexpected gift.
As the situation unfolded, the elderly woman attempted to kneel in an apparent effort to plead with Peller. He later changed his mind and decided not to take back the money.
Addressing the controversy, the young woman explained that her reaction was not meant to suggest a lack of gratitude. She said she was simply overwhelmed by the unexpected financial gift and needed time to process what had happened.
She expressed appreciation to Peller for his generosity, explaining that the moment felt unreal to her.
“The way I reacted wasn’t because I was grateful. I was completely shocked and it felt like a dream, which is why I don’t know how to act immediately. We really appreciate your kindness,” she stated.
