The Lagos State Government has announced dedicated Security Tip Lines for residents to report security threats and provide credible information through videos, pictures, and text messages.
The development was disclosed in an update on Thursday announced by the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF).
According to a statement posted on X by Ridwan Ajetunmobi, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the development forms part of efforts to adapt to evolving security challenges and strengthen its intelligence gathering efforts, broadening public access to reporting security concerns in their neighbourhoods.
The statement reads, “To adapt to evolving security challenges, the Lagos State Government has strengthened its intelligence gathering efforts, broadening public access to reporting security concerns in their neighbourhoods.
“Lagos State Security Trust Fund (@followlsstf) announces dedicated Security Tip Lines where Lagos residents can now submit security-related information for the Government to act on.”
The statement explained that the LSSTF Security Tip Lines are a messaging-only platform with no-call numbers, to enable the public to share credible security information through videos, pictures and text.
The LSSTF Security Tip Lines include 0911 019 5555 and 0916 201 1179.
LSSTF noted that the platform is structured to encourage the flow of actionable intelligence between the citizens and the Government, while maintaining a high standard of confidentiality and professionalism.
The statement added, “Through these platforms, individuals can submit information, photographs, and video recordings relating to security concerns within their communities.
“This initiative leverages the power of technology and citizen participation to enhance situational awareness and support more informed decision-making by relevant authorities.”
The Executive Secretary of the LSSTF, Dr Ayo Ogunsan, emphasised the critical role of citizens in the security ecosystem, noting that while security agencies remain at the forefront of maintaining law and order, their effectiveness is greatly enhanced by credible information from the public.
Ogunsan said, “It’s just video messages and pictures to serve as evidence. When we get the information, we filter them out and send them to appropriate agencies for immediate action. This intervention is for members of the public who are trying to reach out to security agencies but don’t know how to do so.”
