The Lagos State Government has begun intervention in a case involving the alleged intimidation, assault and attempted dispossession of a widow by members of her late husband’s family in Ikorodu.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) said it was alerted to the incident after reports circulated on social media.
According to the Agency, it established contact with the survivor, who alleged that she had been threatened, physically assaulted and intimidated following the recent death of her husband.
She also confirmed that the matter had been reported to the Owutu Police Division.
The DSVA said it had commenced engagement with police investigators handling the case.

Preliminary feedback from the police indicates that the alleged perpetrator has been arrested and is in custody while investigations continue.
The Agency reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to protecting the survivor and her children, assuring that it would continue working with relevant stakeholders to ensure justice is served in accordance with the law.
The DSVA also commended members of the public and partner organisations for promptly reporting cases of sexual and gender-based violence, noting that such vigilance strengthens the state’s response to abuse.
