FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has reaffirmed his support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election, saying his return to Rivers State is not for personal gains.
Wike made the statement on October 2 while addressing stakeholders of Akpor Kingdom in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, where he called for a broader political structure ahead of the election.
“My interest in Rivers State is for God to use me as a vessel to help our people. I am back here not for what I will get, but for what I will be to raise my people,” Wike said.
He also called on political actors to put past differences aside and work together in the interest of the people.
“There is no permanent enemy in politics. What we have is permanent collective interest,” he said.
Wike further reiterated that he would resign as FCT Minister if Tinubu loses both Rivers State and the FCT in the 2027 presidential election.
He also urged politicians, traditional rulers, religious leaders and other community stakeholders in Obio-Akpor to join the mobilisation effort, stressing the importance of numerical strength ahead of the election.
