Celebrity fashion designer Veekee James has emotionally opened up about the sacrifices her mother made after the death of her father, revealing how she dedicated her life to raising her children instead of remarrying.
Speaking during a recent interview, she revealed that said she has never seen her mother date another man since losing her husband, describing her as a woman who chose her children over everything else.
According to the designer, shortly after her father’s death, their pastor asked her mother if she intended to remarry, but she declined, saying she wanted to focus on raising her children.
“I’ve never seen my mom date any man before. Since I lost my dad, my mom has never slept out of the house if it’s not night vigil. When my dad passed, my pastor asked if she wanted to remarry, and she said no. She wanted to take care of us, her kids,” she said.
Veekee James further revealed that her mother worked tirelessly in Ajegunle to provide for the family, taking on tailoring jobs to ensure her children lacked nothing.
The mother of one added that her mother not only taught her tailoring but also instilled values that have guided her throughout her life and career.
“My mom hustled so hard in Ajegunle. She made clothes for so many people. She taught me tailoring and advised me not to follow men,” she added.
The fashion entrepreneur credited her mother’s resilience, discipline and hard work for the woman she has become today, noting that those life lessons continue to inspire her journey.
