The Nigerian Stock Exchange on Thursday, May 7, 2026, recorded a total of 1,469,952,245 shares exchanged hands in 80,963 deals as the market was valued at N64.2 billion, news.ng reports.
According to market data, the NGX saw an improvement in volume of trade at 47%, turnover went up by 27%, but declined by 5% compared to yesterday’s trading.
The market capitalization stood at N153.9 trillion (USD 113 billion).
After the close of trading, out of the 133 equities listed, 42 stocks gained, while 30 ended the day at a loss.
Among the gainers, CAP led the chart with 9.99% increase in share price to close at N212.50 kobo per share. FTN Cocoa Processors gained 9.99% share price to close at N8.04 kobo per share on Thursday.
Others include Berger Paints, which gained 9.97% share price to close at N98.75 kobo per share, while Zichis Agro Allied Industries gained 9.97% to close at N30.33 kobo per share.
On the losers’ chart, University Press had the heaviest loss with a 10% decrease in its share price to close at N4.50 kobo per share. Red Star Express lost 9.59% of its share price to close the day at N25.45 kobo per share.
Still on the losers’ chart, Skyway Aviation Handling Co. also recorded 8.63% depreciation of its share price, while C&I Leasing saw 8.5% depreciation, settling for N7.00 per share.
Elsewhere, Fortis Global Insurance recorded the highest volume of 215 million traded shares, followed by VFD Group with 141 million shares traded, while Access Holdings and FCMB Group recorded 140 million and 120 million shares traded.
