The Federal Fire Service (FFS) has made Nigeria’s first appearance at the World Fire Congress (WFC) in London, United Kingdom, joining fire and emergency service leaders from 70 countries to discuss emerging threats and strategies for safer communities.
A statement signed on Monday by DCF P.O. Abraham, National Public Relations Officer and Head, Corporate Services, Federal Fire Service, noted that the three-man Nigerian delegation, led by the Controller-General of the FFS, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, participated in the discussions on fire safety, emergency management and community resilience.
The Congress provided a platform for participating countries to exchange knowledge, experiences and innovative approaches to managing fire and other emergencies.
Deliberations at the event focused on the full emergency management cycle, including prevention, planning, preparedness, response and recovery, while emphasising collaboration, innovation and knowledge-sharing.
The FFS said Nigeria’s participation enabled the Service to engage its counterparts from across the world, share the country’s experiences and explore opportunities for stronger international cooperation in fire and emergency management.
The Congress ended with representatives of participating countries signing the World Fire Congress Founding Principles, reaffirming their collective commitment to international cooperation, improved fire safety and the development of resilient communities.
The FFS described Nigeria’s inaugural participation as a significant milestone in its growing international engagement and professional collaboration.
The Service said it would continue to leverage global partnerships, knowledge and best practices to strengthen fire safety, emergency preparedness and response in Nigeria.
